Coves NEAR THE LIGHTHOUSE

Post by Phil. 4:8 »

It's been far too long since we got out in the boat, so my bride, our grandson and I went for a short trip out of the lighthouse ramp. The tide was coming in and the wind wasn't too bad at all. To see if Mr. Red was in the back of coves and creeks we went west and turned into a cove that has always had a couple redfish to bite, but not yet this year. The water temp was 78 degrees on the flats and in the back of creeks. The water was stained, but not too bad and the tide was in enough for us to get way back, but throwing jigs, spoons and shrimp could not find a bite. We did stop on the way to the back of a cove and started catching a few short, but fun, trout. We hooked a few more, but did manage putting 10 in the net, then released. It was a great day to give em a try, but no reds, yet; Any day now :D. Hope y'all get out and don't forget to post.
