I guess that's one of the down falls of having reliable equipment. When it don't give ya a problem you start taking it for granted and don't worry bout where stuff is. (back atcha)
Now... as far as my Saturday report.... I guess this should be in the Inshore catagory but since I have been challenged (as it were) by one of our moderators to post my report, here ya go.... (note to moderator...feel free to move this if it would be appropriate) ... put in at 6:45 (by myself). Broke up the dog fight but sling'n my springer into the boat while it was still on the trailer. Paid my fee. TC backed my rig back into the water with no contact by the trailer on either side while I rode the boat off the trailer. TC pulled out and parked without hit'n anything with the trailer. After a quick "primer bulb" hunt with assistance from TC and his trainee, I headed down the river towards the light house in full frogg togg atire. After a couple of stops with no bites, I stumbled across a hole that must have had 13" trout stacked 5 and 6 deep! I don't ever remember catching fish like that. Every cast! If the first one missed the next one or the next would get caught. I must have caught one after another for the better part of an hour. I even changed rigs to see if I could catch something else but I kept get'n trout! I caught em on straight jigs.. jigs under CT's ... shrimp on the bottom... shrimp under CT's.... gold spoon's... About 10:30 the wind got bad enough to where my anchor would not hold so I went looking for a more sheltered spot. I never found one and returned to the trout hole where I started catch'n all over again. I figured that if I stayed on the hole sooner or later something good would happen in the way of some legal fish or tournament species but it never did. I returned to the ramp with nothing to weight in. Being by myself, I beached my boat, backed my trailer down the ramp (with no contact of trailer, fenders, etc. to concrete)... got into my boat...drove it on the trailer... stepped out of the boat onto the dock...(because of the way I had positioned my trailer), walked to my vehicle and pulled out (again with out hit'n any concrete). Spent a few minutes chating with other club folks and listening to some whining about "no net" .... "he tore up my secret lure!" .... "I think he'd have been over 27 inches anyway"... tried to offer an understanding ear and extend my deepest sympathies before departing for home.
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

I guess reliable means "won't crank" in the Sir Reel house
Ya know I heard the only reason you fished was because you didn't want me to call you a wimp ...I guess I need to intimidate you more often
Yep-
The way I see it, the highpoint of the tournament appeared to be 1- Chalk totalling TC's new boat trailer, 2- Sir Reel finds a hole with deep fish in it, and 3- TC forgets his landing net and Chalk throws a tantrum.
If I showed up I probably would have left my camera at home.
Time is the most precious commodity we have in life, stay focused.
Good report Sr. Baby trout are more fun than no trout, and a lot better than excuses for a zero.
Hey 989, I see your problem, that bait minnow your holding up is too big for catching trout.
Can't get your boy to teach you how to do it. He seems to be one of the ones who does well on the St. Marks. Ran into him a few times last winter on the river, and he always had fish.
