Anybody ever used one or heard anything about them, good or bad?
I purchased a ambassador eon and am looking for a rod. It looks like the cabelas innercast might be a good thing but then if it was how come all rods arent made like that now. In the innercast the line runs through the rod and not through guides. Cabelas says this offers increased sensitivity and longer casts. Seems to me like the line might bounce around inside the rod and actually slow it down. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I have used innercast rods for light sea fishing and there are a serious drawbacks.
Firstly, you have to always have a piece of thicker stiffer line at the beginning of the reel line, to assist in threading it up the rod.
This can be a fiddly operation, with wet and/or cold hands.
You then have to decide whether to remove the thick line (to aid presentation), but then retie it every time you want to set up.
Anything that gets on the line, such as weed, slime etc can very easily block the tip hole and is difficult to remove.
On the cheaper versions, it is easy to damage the inner tip ring, this will cause line cut offs without warning (you can't see the ring properly to check it).
I have heard that most models do not like any type of braid.
I donated my two rods to two young lads fishing off a landing stage, when we came back into harbour.
The fact that they are not widely used tells its own story.

thanks guys,
Im really looking forward to using the new eon reel as soon as it gets here. I got it new off e-bay for $59.99 it retails over $100. And thanks for the input Cranfield I'll stay away from the innercast rods. I never thought about the grass and seaweed clogging up the tip but I can see how that would happen its a pain enough with a regular rod sometimes.
