We mosied on out to a spot in 70 ft. and started dropping LY's. Caught one nice red snapper right off and a short gag. After 30 minutes or so, no keeper grouper, so we headed back in to let the boys catch a few more rockies on our way back to the hill.
New Year's Day we headed back out and went back to the favorite inshore spot for the rockies. The boys caught about 50 more in 20 minutes or so. The seas were alot nicer than before, so we decided to head on out and try a few spots. We anchored up on the first hole, but could only manage shorts. We went to spot #2 and started catching short reds. After 45 minutes or so, the bigger ones turned on. We managed to boat 4 keeper grouper in an hour or so and a few red snapper. We started watching the sun go down and decided that we should head in being that we were 22 miles out and had wives waiting at home for a night out. The ride back in was like riding on marshmellows (as one of the boys said) much better than the way out. We made it back in at 6:15 and was back at home at 7:45 with a nice cooler of fish and just enough time to shower and catch a movie with the ladies. A good day to say the least and a wonderful way to ring in the New Year
