Well I'm going to test out a 22ft pathfinder next weekend, and if everything checks out bring it home. What exactly do I do besides try and give the boat hell for about 25 minutes?
Check WOT compared to manufactory recomendation, check that you have a good stream from the pee hole, tilt & trim response under power, release the steering while running to see if it pulls one way or another That's all I can think of right off
A compression test would be top on my list, and on the water I would pay close attention to the hole shot and top end RPM,s to make sure it has the performance you like. At a comfortable trim turn sharply and see if the prop blows out. I have only heard good things about the pathfinder. Make sure it cranks without loading up and that it Idles smooth. Also I would look at fuse box and all electrical connections I could for corrosion. Good luck!
Open every hatch and opening. Smell for mold or gas. Feel how damp the bilge is. Get under the console and check the wiring. Is it corroded? Has stuff been added and spliced? Are the battery cables corroded? Check out the trailer. Are the bearings greased? Are the leaf springs or bolts corroding?
