I've looked at the same question and haven't come up with any real problems/issues yet. I do know the Carolina's well but otherwise I can't say I'm a lot of help.

I have a Sundance K16 and it is a much better boat than the J16 carolina. Better looking and handling. I love the boat but it's going to be for sale. My wife won't get in it and I am going to get a bigger boat. It has a 25Nissan and will run 25mph two people and gear. And have gone 30 miles on 6 gallons of gas. I special ordered the console with the seat in front, and have battery and tank under it with room left for a tacklebox. Also it has depthfinder, vhf , bimini top and 10 rod holders. The rigging channel goes down the side and not underfoot. It's a perfect flats boat.
