In Ft Lauderdale Ihad to keep my boat atthe golf course where I worked, Ihated it, swore Id never do that again. If Ididnt type like a 2 year old Iwould tell all the reasons why.

Rocket- I appreciate it but I am just looking for ballpark figures.

Like I said I think I am off to a bad start with these neighborhood nazis and I think I am going to pass on their boring-azz 'hood.

If I move in there I would probably live happily for about 90 days before there would be a knock on my door and the president of the homeowners association would be standing there with a copy of our convenants. He would be pointing to the part where all homeowners contractually bound to go to one cul-d-sac (sp) for an annual lottery.

The purpose of the lottery would be to determine which one of us gets stoned to death in order to appease the gods that year.

I would probably pass on such a deal.
However I do like the idea of building a fence and painting "their" side a nice pink and yellow and your side a nice ocean scene.
That might start a graffiti war.

Atticus, this the exact reason why I bought, and built on 6 acres. I couldn't put up with that crap for 30 min.

Of course I bought my property 9 yrs. ago before pickens got so slim 'round these parts!

That 6' fence will cost a lot less than a few years of boat storage! Some neighborhoods strictly enforce covenants and some aren't so bad. In my current neighborhood, my 20-footer is the "dinghy" of the block - you can barely see it's cover over the fence. Within 1 block, there are 3 boats around 22- 23', all with T-tops and bule tarps sticking up about 8 feet above the fence line. I think our rule is that a boat/RV/trailer, etc. cannot be visible from the street in front of the house.

HOWEVER, I do know of some places where this would not be tolerated. Best to avoid those ones...

Recently I heard of a condominium type boat storage project going in Carabelle at the old Julia Mae's site. Having recently "vacated" Bayside's dry storage, I am looking for the convenience of stack storage at a price I can live with. Does anyone have information on the condo docks ? All I have is a friends report of hearing something about them.

Hey Luke.... here's a thought. Get the current owner to have the fence put up... add the cost onto the selling price.... then you can have the benefit of including the cost in the mortgage and the extra interest will be tax deductible.
