Went to visit Grandma today for her 87th Birthday.....it was too nice of a day to pass up bringing along the Zebco 33 (according to my 10 year old). He endured the lunch and then begged me to take him down to the pond. I sat in the lawn chair (just like my dad used to do) while he dug for worms. He couldn't find any (just like I used to do) so I had to dig for them. We got a few nice ones and put them in an old coffee can provided by Grandma. He started catching bluegill from the very first cast with the occasional shell cracker mixed in just for fun. With almost every cast, he would cause the water to "boil" spooking the largemouth bass.....but just couldn't get one to bite which is very rare for this pond. Anyhow, I sat back and watched him have the time of his life for about an hour before we had to head back home. Somehow, I was able to convince him to "catch & release" because I knew who would be cleaning fish when they got home . It was a great way to spend Sunday afternoon, and man oh man do I miss those days.....
Here's the boy with his first catch of the day.....
Way to go. Ponds are some of the best fishing anywhere. I have one in my back yard...that Dad used to fish. He's gone on now but I can see him out there under the ol pine tree everytime I go out there.
Your 10 year old son is hooked forever. Way to go.

What a great way to spend the weekend. I'm sure all the fishing coupled together with Grandma's birthday made memories that will never be forgotten. Thanks for sharing the experience and memories.
