The Fabled Red Grass Carp, Bald point 3/28/05

Post by DuctTapeKing »

My buddie, Ryan, and I woke up and got on the road at the crack of 8:30. We had my ganuhee and his kayak. We got to Bald point at low tide, 10:00. It was gray and windy. All the birds sat on shore not wanting to be in the sky. We lanched both boats ready to go hunt some reds. Two seconds into my boats voyage my trolling motor started to smoke. So off come the alligator clips from the battery. No problem I have a paddle and my trusty 2 horse on back if I need to go a long way. We fish the oyster bars with no luck. I move to a spot I caught a big trout last year. Ofcourse my 2 horse spun a prop. No problem I have a paddle. It's now about 1:00, 2 hours till high tide. My buddie and I make our way over to the grass line. This is when it gets fun. Between us we catch 12 red fish, with two keepers in the box, 19", 22". I even hook up with the most rare of fish, the fabled grass carp. I foul hooked him the the tail and fought him for 10 minutes, thinking ofcourse I had a hugh red. I got him to the boat and saw how big he was. Probably 20lbs and a dark pink. Who woulda thunk??? A quick pull of the barb and he was gone to be apart of someone else's fish tale. We are about to leave at high tide but decide to try for some trout. In one hour I have my limit 16"-18" and my buddie has one. We head for the hill. I walk up to my van and Damn, Damn!!!! my trailer is gone. I know it was a beat up old trailer ment to carry a beat up old boat, so thats just plain sorry, and many other choice words. At least they didn't steal my fishing pole. Anyway we clean up tie the boat to the roof of my mini van and head home with smile on our faces. Anyone see a trailer head up with Duct Tape call the law!!!

Trust me I know you live and you learn. If I'm going to have a trailer stolen that would be the one. Luckly it wasn't a nice trailer for a boat that couldn't be tied to the top of a minivan. I will have a lock from here on out....when ever I get another boat or trailer.
