I was just looking for a way to throw it without putting the line in my mouth, and this looks like the ticket.

Don't ever let your net go all the way to the bottom if you don't know what's down there. A small oyster clump will cut a net like butter. If it falls around a half buried rock...dive time or kiss that net goodbye. A quick yank will close the bottom of the net without it hitting the bottom and trap your catch before they swim out.
Casting works best over sandy areas where you can see the bait fish....no mess in the boat. Also in deep water when the bait is running the surface.
But whats a little mess in the boat for free bait and more time for the real fish !
