Econfina 04/05/05
This is what they looked like today at Econfina. It was a hard time getting out due to the low low tide at 0630. Only hit one rock. The river is flooded but the lower part on the ocean was empty of water today at 0800. Finally made it out onto the flats....and turned right toward Aucilla and about half way there...we sat down right on top of them...trout. This picture is the first one on the day....about 4 lbs....on Catch 2000's and streight jigs with candy corn. Caught a few on corks..but they were too short. Water temp was 59 degrees in the river and 61-63 on the flats. We went on to limit out...had 9 by 1130. Took 2 more hours to catch the 10th one . Game warden was there..got in my boat...checked everything...almost....said most people was doing pretty good. Thats Dixie Reb holding the biggun. The water was very dirty around Econfina....but as you got westward it cleared up a bit..li

Only hit one rock???? Heck, considering where you were fishing...that's a better story than the big trout!
Outstanding job when you put both of em together
My State farm agent sent me a letter telling me to come by the office and get my locater bracelet put on.... if they find me within 5 miles of Econfina they're gonna cancel my boat policy

"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
SR, it really wasn't that bad going out. we just took our time and tried to stay in what was left of the channel. The final stretch at the mouth we looked for crabtrapl buoys floating and no trap visible, so we knew the water was deeper there. But 2 other poor fellers grounded trying to go out and had to wait for the tide to come up. Anyway, it was well worth the trip. Can you see me grinn'in in the picture?
Yours in the South
