Blind hog and I were able to convince our respective management that we both really needed some time off :o so we headed to the Fort to see if we could manage to recover enough to consider finishing the remainder of the week at work. :-D Since my tow vehicle started bucking and snorting the evening before and ended up in the shop unexpectedly… we used BH’s and my boat.

We got on the water about 10:30am and the conditions were absolutely beautiful and stayed that way for the entire day. Mild breeze out the South South East, very light chop. 8) We traveled East and ended up in the general area of Grey Mare. Started throwing candy corn and space guppy grubs under CT’s, catch 2000’s, and trailing shrimp off the back under a CT. Tried several different topwater but didn't have any takers up top. Trout showed almost immediately and the fun was on. :D We caught a Blue and a Spanish right away as well. Most of the fish came between 11am and 1pm. The bite slowed quite a bit after that but we would continue to pick up a fish here and there. Early on we decided to throw anything back that was 15 ½ or less. :-? We rode around for quite sometime toward the end of the day with 8 trout hoping to find some over 20  but we were never able to find the bigger trout and finished up with a couple of 16-17 incher's. Most of the fish came from 5 to 9 foot depths. Not sure of temps as I do not have a sensor. Never saw what I would call “muddyâ€

That's getting to be too many mental health days - if that's possible...

SR, That's interesting. You guys caught fish at almost the same time Dad and I got ours. But you're right, it was an absolutely beautiful day. Glad y'all found some quality fish. We didn't get any macks but had one cutoff and never saw what he was.
