Night fishing

Post by jka_gator »

I'm attempting my first night fishing trip this weekend (with a boat fresh out of the shop...). Anybody have any tips, safety or otherwise?

I went offshore last summer on a night trip and these are the things that we brought:

Plenty of lighting( Flourecent lanterns, I wouldn't flashlights, etc...
Extra clothes(you might get wet or if it rains)
Rain gear
Plenty of drinks, snacks, bait.
Fish with someone you like! ( I failed to do this and had a miserable trip. I'll spare the details and the names.)

One thing I would consider doing is running your boat since you just had it in the shop. My friend just had his "fixed" and it blew up the first 5 minutes he was running.

At any rate, I am sure night fishing on the flats would be a blast. I can imagine the trout would hit topwater baits even better.
