Econfina 4/8 & 4/9

Post by Welby »

4/8 : Headed out the river about 9:30AM. Started a drift between Aucilla and Econfina. Picked up shorts and more shorts and more shorts on jigs with and without cajun thunders with and without shrimp til around noon. Moved out to the birdracks in hope of finding bigger fish, nothing. Moved back in toward the shorline still nothing. By this time wind had picked up quite a bit. Made one last effort toward rock island. Didn't give it much time and decided to call it a day because of the waves. Headed in and got plenty wet due to the spray caused by running across the waves. On the trailer about 3:30PM. Final count was three keeper trout and threw back a bunch of shorts. By my rules, a great day !!!

4/9 : Wanted to take the girlfriend fishing (since in the past she has brought me much luck). Took her to Tallahassee for a early morning tennis match (boat in tow) which she won. We headed back down to Econfina. On the water about 1PM, headed back to where we started Friday. Same as day before, shorts, shorts, and more shorts. After alot of that and a keeper or two we headed out furter to try and locate larger fish. As soon as we stopped we started catching more fish. It didn't seem to matter what we threw or where we fished. Could not have ask for a more fun day. Keepers weren't a must, just wanted her to catch some fish. We eneded up with 5 keeper trout and 1 nice spanish about 18-3/4" to the fork. Way to many shorts to keep up with. On the trailer about 5:30PM. Super Day !!!!!!!!!

Would love to post a picture if someone would tell me how.
