Poling platform help

Post by Lester C »

I'm thinking about putting a poling platform on the back of my 19' Carolina Skiff. I am also looking for one of those removable casting platforms for the front. Any suggestions about who does a good job of installing, who has good prices, etc., would be appreciated.

Lester C - Moultrie, GA...
I too would like to install a polling platform on my boat...its a 18' Stott Craft & similar to a C-skiff. If you find a good source that do good installations of such platforms let me know!

Thanks!

I know they do some good aluminum ones over in Perry. Call Waymond at Jacks Boats, or Big Bend Marine and ask them. I'm sure you'll find what your looking for.
As far as Tallahassee, I can't recomend anyone.

Metal Fabricators built mine. they will build one for you, if you can provide them a sketch with the necessary dinentions. or, you can order a kit if a transom mount platform will work on your boat.

Here's mine.

It's all aluminum. The top is aluminum plate, painted with epoxy paint, and a non skid addative. I painted the top. I won't tell you what I paid for this one. You'll have to get a price yourself.

Tell Matt or Lynn John Vickers sent ya. That'll be worth at least an additional $100 in cost. :-D

TinCan,
I noticed you purchased the "transom mount" version. Without a forward leg mounted on deck, do you get any "sway" when moving around on it? It looks like a deck mounted support would provide more stability (?).

Looks good though!

The boat in the picture is not conducive to a deck mounted platform. However, I got very little movement out of the transom mount.

Good advice Yak! Mines similar to a Carolina Skiff too...pretty flat.

Tin Can...can't tell about yours from the pic...but it looks to have some "V" to it!? How does the P-platform work with yours? What type boat & bottom does it have?

THANKS!
