Liveline and I left the fort at 0700 and headed east out of the river. Ran to The Grey Mare area. It was a little breezy. The water temp at 0730 was 65 degrees. Couldn't tell much about water clarity for quite a while. It was overcast from mid morning till after noon.
When we could tell more about the water, we discovered the majority of the water was chocolate colored with lots of what looked like algae suspended. I don't think it was algae, just dirt and silt suspended. When we found water that wasn't chocolate, it was tannin stained. Visibility was about 2 feet. We never saw the bottom all day. The wind calmed a little mid morning, then picked up this afternoon. It was whitecapping in the river at 1600 this afternoon. The water temp rose to 67 degrees this afternoon.
Needless to say, it wasn't a banner day. We caught 25 or 30 shorts, maybe 4 marginal, and 2 solid keepers. We fished bottom jigs, catch 2000's, and several other baits. All but 4 fish came on a CT. The other 4 came on a 2000.
The dirty water has taken over. Tomorrow might be interesting.

I thought the boat looked familiar, but I didn't see the gold motor on the back. Did you paint the motor?mjsigns wrote:John-
That was you and Liveline? You all drifted by us twice. I guess I fooled you because I had removed the livewell temporarily to do some work on the mounts. That was me and my wife. ...
