Any Suggestions? Update 4/19

Post by Littoral »

Don’t really want to tell this story because it might make me remember it a little longer. If anybody learns something from it please let me know.
Fishing by kayak I guessed that it would be flat enough early. Started at 7am and by 9:30 I’d caught 3 nice trout on a Catch 2000 (~20â€

I've had days like that. If you aren't throwing to the exact spot they are or throwing the exact bait they are you don't catch them. Ask anyone who has fished a winter on the Aucilla and they will tell you the same thing. Probably weren't holding your mouth right.

Thanks.
Eventually I did get rude enough to get real close. Didn't matter.
I've also been in the other boat catching all the fish.
At least they didn't laugh out loud.

Went the other day and all they would bite was lures. Not shrimp not sand trout.

Whenever I see someone catching I will pull up and ask what they are using.

What is the worst they can say?

Where were you fishing?

There was a motor powered yellow kayak in the area we were catching reds out of Lanark, but the guy never moved in. We would probably have moved over or let the guy in if asked. We probably caught 20 reds yesterday....

What's the worst they can say? Sure, not much. Unless they're from "the county" and then evidently you might get shot.
I just think people should give each other a lot of room so I do try to walk the talk.
Yellow with a motor? I'm green.

Different boat then, same concept

The yellow kayak was definitely moving under it's own power.

:smt019 :smt025 As long as folks ask and stay a respectable distance "unless invited closer" very few would say or do anything other than CATCHEMUP SON :smt058 :smt036

4/19 Update: Couldn't stand it.
Went back this morning with shrimp. When in Rome...
The fish were not stacked up on the spot but among the 8 red fish I caught one was a 28". Pulled my kayak around with the anchor down. A real beast. Hail Hail 8lb Power pro. Also found 3 trout (~18-19") on a jig in 3' of water over grass.
Back at work by noon.
Also, the same boat pulled up when I was already there. We had a nice chat.
He says he caught big Spanish over Dog Island Shoal on the fly.
