Three boats went a- fish'in 4-19

Post by DixieReb »

Three boats from Moultrie, Ga. went out at 7:30 am to flats fish, 2 put in at Econfina and one went out of Aucilla. Tide low and rising, everybody fished west of Econfina but didn't find much. Fisherman 989 and his partner got 6 keepers close to Aucilla entrance, the other boats only got 3 keepers between them. Water got real still at 12 noon and got hot also, everybody went looking in all directions. FM989 went to the rock garden and managed a few more to finish their limit out, quit at 2:30. The Econfina boats headed back east. Me and Sharkey found 2 big sailcats in 5 ft. water between the 2 rivers. No trout. Went east further, found some boats close to Icky that were catching some so stayed in this area and managed 7 more keepers, one at 191/2'' about 3 lbs. Mostly on straight grubs in 5-6 ft. water on candycorn or chatreuse/firetail. We didn't get much on corks but the third boat went out toward the first birdrack and tore 'em up on cajun thunders and candycorn. We quit at 3:30, tired and ready for a hot meat at Fallin's BBQ in T'ville. Oh yeah, we got 2 cutoffs out there so the Spanish and blues are getting plentiful now. Got one small blue and 2 big ladyfish. Few pins.
Overall, a great day with friends, Dad and most importantly my wonderful wife. Thanks, baby.
Yours in the South

I was there...and one of the boats Reb mentioned. It was good.
Ithink when they're biting....they're biting all over the place....not everywhere mind you....but a lots of places. When they aren't biting....move.
We were about 8 miles apart...when the afternoon bite started...it was as good in the rock garden as over at the bird racks.
We got a good year group of small trout. We must have caught close to 50 shorts...and as usual....got nine keepers and like to have never caught that last one. :D

It was all DixieReb's fault that I caught that LadyFish. He said "Aint it about time you caught a LadyFish?". On the very next cast guess what I brought in? :smt013 Nevertheless we had a great day on the water and are already planning our next adventure. Got to go restock my tackle box. We could open our own tackle store. :smt045
It is great to know that he still likes being around me even though I think it is because I really know how to work a dip net. :smt058
I'd rather have a bad day on the water than a good day at work!!

Good report DR/guys. And Sharky, your reference to fishing as an adventure is just that. The thought of it, is blood stirring for most of us.
