pensacola fishing trip
Today’s Trip was out of Pensacola what a wonderful place. The weather was just right; the water was clear along the beach and with the north wind blowing it made for good fishing hugging the coast. The crew had partied at the Flora Bama all day Saturday, but was ready to fish Sunday. Each of the crew members tossed a mullet from Alabama to Florida on Saturday along with pouring bushwhackers down, so I wasn’t sure how they would handle a days fishing but these guys know how to party and how to fish. We started slow trolling about 4 knots with hurricane gold in color and a tree rig. After about 20 or so bluefish and as many Spanish they were ready to fish. We headed out along the beach trolling to the west and started catching big bull reds on the gold hurricane so I hooked up a gold stretch 25 and it was bringing them to the boat as well. The crew was having a ball with the big reds. About the time we made it to Pensacola beach we spotted a small pod of cobia reeled in the lines and threw a blue and white jig and an eel one small fish turned on the jig, took it then his buddies followed him to the boat and a good fish took the eel. Two on, hooked up everyone screaming telling each other how to fish. I was cracking up these guys had me rolling. They kept no fish, they fished hard landed a good amount and went back to the dock happy fisherman.
