Headed out of Aucilla early Saturday with a friend to get an early jump on everybody else. Headed towards Econfina and set up drift. Nothing. Moved farther out. Nothing. Moved farther out again. Fished for 30 minutes before hooking the first fish. After a short fight, we had our first trout in the boat after 1 hour of fishing

. We ended up moving farther east, but could only manage blues. Moved back towards Aucilla and the other "umpteen" number of boats there. Put 2 lines out the back with cut ladyfish on. Then out of nowhere, the trout began to bite. We started catching them on various grubs and the cutbait (when the hardheads weren't hiting it). Caught 6 nice trout between 18-22", throwing back anything under 16" hoping for a few bigger ones. Once the bite slowed, we decided to head in. Back at the ramp around 1:00 with 7 nice trout.
Decided to head to St. Marks on Sunday afternoon to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Talked to a guy at Shields who said the weather was nice offshore. They had fished the K Tower and caught some nice AJ's. We headed out to the flats around 2:30 and caught about 30 or so pinfish to go with the frozen stuff in the cooler. About 2 miles into our trek, the wind REALLY picked up and I decided that I was not going to fight that crap for another 15-20 miles. So, we abandoned our offshore trip and headed back in to the Cobb Rock area to look for trout instead. We set a drift a caught one keeper (18"). Drifted a few more times and caught 5 more nice trout, a few blues and a flounder. I had set a live pinfish out the back, but nothing wanted it. With the sun setting fast, we decided to head back in. We ran about 40 mph till we hit the Grey Mare area. The wind and seas really picked up again, so I had to throttle way down to keep from getting completely soaked. About 40 minutes later

, we were back at the channel...soaked. Tried to run the channel, and got completely soaked. It's completely dark now, and I figure that since we are all wet now, I'll just make a run for it. We do, and get soaked some more. Nothing like trying to read a GPS at night with your eyes burning from the saltwater continually hitting you in the face!!! We get back to the river and I finally open her back up again all the way to Shields. Back in the truck at 10:00......an hour and 40 minutes after leaving Cobb Rocks

A HOT shower really hit the spot and now I'm off to bed!!!!!!
