Well I can't read anymore posts, I can't wait for the Tarpon run in June and July, my wife has given me a three day pass so I am loading up the truck, leaving Nashville and taking a road trip to Apalachicola. Booked a room at Sportsman's Lodge in Eastpoint and a guide for Thursday and Friday. If the fishing for Trout and Reds is as good as you guys are making it sound I should only get 3 speeding tickets driving down there. Any recommendations for a good restaturant? A good local place where they cook your catch. I am trying to talk my guide into going flounder gigging. You guys got it good! See ya on the water!

Don't know of a resturant that will cook your catch. But if you want some good ole southern cookin, try the Red Top, in Apalach.
What was I supposed to do today?

Update from last week. Fished with Capt. Dwayne Allen. We put some very nice trout and reds in the boat. He also introduced me to "flounder gigging". It was a blast. Looking out for gators or "friendly's" and fighting off the skeeters, flounder gigging at sunset in the Gulf of Mexico is a great experience. Here again what is work to people on the coast is an experience of a lifetime for those of us who do not get to do it everyday. I cam home with a 100 lb bag of oysters and enough flounder, reds, and trout to have a great dinner with friends. We scouted St. Vincent Island hard and came up with a good plan for Tarpon. It looks like a decent fishery when the Tarpon move in and plenty of Poagies. I am wondering if anyone has ever tried to "jig" fish some of the deep holes in the cut between St. Vincents and Little St. George Island. We marked some nice 50 to 60 foot holes in the cut and I was interested in seeing if anyone has ever tried the "jig" method for them or if they even stack up in these holes. Thanks again. This forum has opened up a whole new area of fishing for me. I'll try and keep it a secret.
