NFGFC ST. JOE RESULTS AND NECESSARY COMMENTARY:

Post by Jumptrout51 »

1st place Chris Deason Michael Smith 14.48 lbs(including shiners)
2nd " STEVE TAYLOR BUTCH TAYLOR 14.46 lbs(including shiners)no ice
3rd " John Vickers Jim Chalkey 11.95 lbs (including shiners)
4th " Tom Keels Sonny Blanton 7.88 lbs (including shiners)
5th " Jeff Trent Chuck Collins 5.81 lbs (including shiners)
6th " Bud Halbert Steve Brawner 4.53 lbs (including shiners)
7th " Mike Scibelli Gennaro Scibelli
Bob Berlin 1.47 lbs (including shiners)
Bonus fish included Redfish,Pinfish and Needlefish. 5 out of 7 had Redfish, that shows no imagination at all. Pinfish,Needlefish I'll go along with.
The water was beautiful, the weather was beautiful, the fishing was great. Crystal clear water made the sight fishing absoluteley spectacular. You could see the fish take the lure and then watch every move all the way to the net.
Of course we heard the grumblings of some who had their fish knocked off by the net.
There were others who kept calling to ask if there were any fish to be found bigger than 14".
Then TC called to say Chalk finally caught a keeper.(This was the 2nd day.)
Big T kept seeing trout on the backs of stingrays.
Mike Scibelli and team logged 77 miles in the bay and 1 keeper trout.
Jeff Trent and Chuck Collins kept casting into 48" Redfish only to catch 22" Redfish.
Chris Deason Michael Smith caught over 100 keepers, but could barely get 5 to the scale.
All I can say is: I'll be back next year.

Butch and I stayed over and fished Sunday for about 3 hours. We got another 5 plus pound trout a 20"and a 18". When we got back to the ramp to load out we were talking to the ramp hand and telling him about all the 4 and 5 pound fish we had caught since Friday. We released 12 over 20" in the 3 days. We told him how pleased we were to catch so many nice fish when he informed us that the BIG FISH haven't started biting yet. To the St. Joe folks big trout are 8 pounds and above. He also told us of a regular lady angler who went out Saturday shortly after we came in to our weighin. She singlehandedly boated 35 keeper trout from 3 til 7 pm.
