75 hp Mariner

Post by arcadiainc »

Finally my old 70 hp Mercury bit the green weenie. I do not want to step up and buy a new motor. A friend on mine told me about a fairly new, very low hours mariner. The price is agreeable. My questions are: Do they still make Mariners? What is the general reputation of the Mariner? Has anyone had any experience with one? and lastly is there a possibility that my new stainless steel prop would fit it? Any information will be greatly appreciated. I know this is a lot of questions but I am just off the turnip wagon on these motors.

Mercury makes them. Do not know much as far as reputation and reliability but since Mercury started the company in th 70's in Australia you may been in luck with the prop working. Yes they still make them, you can get a Mariner Optimax. I get the impression that Mercury/Mariner is like Johnson/Evinrude. One thing I have noticed is that alot of oyster boats in Eastpoint got Mariners on the back. That has lot to say considering the abuse those guys point on their boats. Here is the link to ther site

It's a Mercury. Every part, including your new stainless prop is interchangable.
What was I supposed to do today?
