OK. Here I show my A>

Some of you know I stopped fishin' at age 10 or 12, avid but only self taught even then, only to resume, oh shall I say "a few" decades later and not too long ago. I started wadin' and catchin' reds and trout several years ago and am fishin' some off my fisrt boat now.

So some of you already know that I don't know much! Now the rest of you will:

And the world of artifcials is still a bit of a mystery to me. In fact, I caught my first keeper ever, on an artificial, only about a year ago. And I am still pretty much self taught, 'cept for you good folks.

So I have to ask a stupid question, one I think was answered for me on here a while back but I forget!

How do you rig one of these:

Darn it if I didn't use a jig head yesterday on these and similar things. This morning, it occurred to me that maybe I was supposed to use one of those offset hooks.

And any of you guys that want to take me out and show me some stuff like this, I am good to go!

First off let me say, there is NO wrong way to fish anything, just different ways :-D I have fished jigs on a jig head, offset hook, regular J hook through the nose and a circle hook through the nose :o there will be times when the fish just prefer a certain presentation over another, so never be afraid to try it differently "even if ya think it's foolish" :smt004

Start looking at magazines....Shallow Water Angler had a good article on soft plastics the other month...

You can fish that lure with a jig head, worm weight/hook combo, circle hook or just a hook....

Heck... I saw Jumptrout51 tie one of them things onto some 25# mono with a hard knot on the little end of the thing.... duck tape a grapl'n hook to the other end and throw the whole mess towards a crab trap. :o
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

You probably already know this, but the obvious reason for the off-set hook is so you can fish it weedless. :D
