Who all's doing the Hands Helping Anglers thing tomorrow? My guest is a gentleman who lives at Westminister Oaks, and I assume he is more elderly than some of you guys. He is mostly blind. He really wants to fish.
I am a bit concerned about the weather or the ride in the 13'er:
Saturday
Southeast wind 10 to 15 knots. Seas 3 to 4 feet. Protected waters a light to moderate chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms.
But I am a "go" at this point. I think I will go out of Shields as it is easy in-and-out of the boat and they are waiving launch fees. My plan would be to head east, but probably not far at all given the likely chop: Last Sunday, My Bride was, well, sorta yellin' at me for bringin' the boat in "fast" as we did get a bit wet! No trolling motor yet, so that will keep me out of the creek mouths.....
It will be right at low tide, or right after, when we launch.
Other than around the islands or Gray Mare, I don't really have any "spots" out there for trout, etc. I wonder, if I go to the "flats," how deep I should go, how far east of the St. Marks, etc......
Doin' the HHA and lookin' for advice...

Aucilla, I would'nt get to hung up on trying to find a "spot" to fish. With the weather so iffy, you will only be able to fish where you are comfortable. If you just want to put some fish in the boat, just head out, east or west, to a distance comfortable for you given the conditions, and your fishing partner, then I would suggest finding water in the 4-6 ft range and fishing. If your not catchin, then just move about, trying to stay in the same depth range, until you find some fish. There are plenty of fish very close to the mouth, both east and west right now, just don't sit in one spot to long if nothings biting. Try electric chicken, candycorn, or a few of the other popular colors, and rig two poles, one with a CT and one with out. Alternate between these two rods, and a few vastly different colors until you find out what they want, then lay it to them
Also, early, while it is still cool, try shallower water with some topwater mixed in to your fishing arsenal. The biggest secret weapon you can carry out there is confidence, so approach the matter as you are gonna catch some fish but you just gotta put the right combination together first.
Sorry I can't tell you where the dead ringer honey hole is, but I don't know myself.
Good luck, Fish Masterson
