Started the morning with very slick cool conditions. Mullet everywhere. Heard talk of fish being caught just below the island. We went to sulfur creek.
Stayed in the mouth of the creek the whole time. We worked the areas of rock grass patches and the fish would literally almost knock the rod out of your hand.
My partner caught a nice 19" fish early on a chug bug then between 8 and 8:30 we caught 8 more between 16 and 22". Lost a couple of fish at the boat. Fished until 11 trying for number 10. Came back up Sulfur creek with no water and managed to pick up a few blue crabs in the shallow water. Most of the fish were caught on Victimizer corks and lures. All fish were very fat, but with not much in their stomachs. Only caught one resident fish, the rest were very light colored as they just came off the flats. Great morning, but man did it get nasty out there.
By the time we made it back up river the wind was howling at about 20 knots.
