Oh yea,
Chalk I like the way you say if you ever build another one, theres a guy that lives down the street from where I built it, he stopped by one day and said he's built 2 and helped on another. He said "The second one will be alot easier", and I'm thinking "The second one!!!" :o ,My wife would kill me. I did mention the Phantom 22 to her and she said why don't you just buy one instead. So if any of you guys are having trouble convincing your wife you need a boat loan I've found a solution. Build one and she'll never complain when you want to buy one :-D . And by the way the seams on your phantom did look perfect, they would be very easy to glass and then fair, unlike mine. :smt038 , Nice job, hope the new project works out for ya.

Jigsaw :o ....Circular saw, once you try it, you will never look back...I think I could make a 12" plate with a circular saw.... :thumbup:

I tried a circular saw but could never get it to make the curves, the blade would always bind on me and then when I tried to wiggle it out the cut was crooked anyways.

Trick is to have it barely cut through the wood and use a 30 plus tooth blade and support the cut with a scrape wood....But buying it precut is alot less sweat and time

saw with high tooth count is the key.

I've always used a jig saw for my canoes and kayaks but recently picked up a small cordless circular saw. It's mighty nice for the long cuts.

I took advanatage of the long weekend and finally finished sanding. :smt038 I will never sand again!!!!! Never, Never, Never. I also got all of the painting finished she is finally ready for rigging.

Yes, that is a $35 Igloo cooler cushion for a seat. It was alot cheaper than having one custom made. You can also see the HIN at the top right side of the transom. I had awards 4 U engrave the numbers in an aluminum strip and I then fiberglassed it into the transom.

In this last pic you can see the rubrail and the third coat of paint which really brought out the shine.

So, hopefully seatrials will be in the next week or so. I can't wait she won't be a speed demon and I'm sure shell ride a little wet but she should be a stable fishing platform and have planty of fishing room.

A honest draft of 6" would be great!

Most of us have a hard enough time keeping our existing boats seaworthy...you go and build one from scratch....we are not worthy... :lol:

It's really a matter of time and patience more than talent I think. Nowadays with the internet you can learn how to do anything. Now building my own airplane is where I stop. Hopefully I'll have some pictures of the christening and maiden voyage soon. We're gonna drag her down to lake micosukee where it's not too crowded so we can test everything out. :smt004
