Hi, I am questioning my judgement now, but I have scheduled two redfish charters out of St. Augustine Florida Next Monday and Wednesday.... Go Daniel
Anyway, the charters are $300 and $400 respectively. What is an appropriate tip and under what conditions?
I know last year in the keys I had a charter for $1000 but the Captain did not have gas or bait when we left so we spent 2 hours of the trip motoring around getting ready. I tipped him but I did not feel so good about it if you know what I mean.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
What to TIP?

You should ask the Captain what he expects as far as a tip. Some may say they factor that into the cost of the trip. For an offshore trip where the captain has a mate, the tip is usually all the mate gets and its generally 10-15% of the cost of the trip. Expect the same on an inshore trip.
