A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
Gonna be able to get out tomorrow and looking for some updated info. Headed out in my buddies 22' and thinking of headed out of Mashes Sand. I heard the landings a go.? I've been out around the 24 barge the past few trips and got into AJ's (only one kept) and seen a 30# plus cobia caught right next to me and kings roaming. Also got into some heavy spanish and kings working bait on the edges of the shoals, about 10-15 feet of water.
That was all before the hurricane though. Anything changed out there? I know inshore is way off. How deep before anyones seeing keeper grouper?
Fairly new to getting offshore after years of reds and trout, any help on getting into some snapper without getting too far out there?
Thanks!
Try about 2 miles E/SE of bouy 26 and work towards C tower "about the best I can tell ya"
“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”
Thanks for the tips.
Anything other than the species I noted that I should be targeting?
I was at the meeting/seminar the other day at West Marine, and I'm anxious to try out that flourocarbon to braid/PP melted ball knot the guy showed. I've always used a uniknot just not like that. I tied one up and it seems stout.
Was anyone else there?
I tried out that braid to flourocarbon knot I spoke of. First hook-up pulled the uni-knot side of the 80# power pro past the 80# flourocarbon . I don't know if it was my knot, but I've been tying a uni for some years, and wrapped it 12 times as instructed. I think I'll just tie up both sides from now on. Hasn't failed me yet.
