A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
I've fished the vast majority of my life in freshwater and fished tons of bass tourneys but, I'm still a "newbie" at this saltwater fishing game. We've been down to St. Marks once since Dennis and did manage one dink trout and I see from most of the reports that there has been little improvement in the fishing. I guess I have 2 questions for you more experienced fishermen here, how soon will the water clear and get back to "normal" and how soon before the trout fishing gets better?
It'll take a month w/o any hurricanes or large rain events for the water to straighten out. Although, this weekend I thought the clarity was pretty good for this time of year and after a major hurricane. I could see 3-4 feet in most places. The water was, however dark brown with tannins from all the freshwater. You can look for a few scattered really good "catchin days", but it will be October before you see consistant action again.
