What does everone think is the best bait to use for bush hooks and trotlines?

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. We can use brim in ga. as long as you catch them on hook and line. Sometimes I feel bad putting hand size brim on a trot line. We can use Brim on hook and line here, it just can't be unattended "rod and reel

I have a commercial freshwater license. Only have it because I have a 500 hook box line trotline. Ivory soap works good and is cheap. Can't use it in real hot weather because it melts too fast but it works good in the spring and fall. A friend showed me another soap,zute, you get it in the mexican section at Harveys. About every 10 hooks I put on about a 4/0 or 5/0 forged hook with a brim. If I leave the line out any small fish get moved to the big hooks. When you see a catfish that looks like it has been sandpapered with 60 grit an appalosa has had it.
We really need to get rid of the Appalosia catfish. They have almost eaten all the redbreast in the flint. I do injoy catching and eating them though.
Used to use cotton seed meal cakes in my baskets but I quit using them because they are so messy.
