Fall Grouper Fishing

Post by RC »

Saturday I left St. Marks headed to buoy 24 to check out the grouper fishing. Two miles past the last marker at St. Marks I started seeing dead fish and when I got to 24 it was worse. Dead grouper, grunts, pinfish, puffers, robinfish and even eels.

Does this mean that our fall grouper fishing is dead too? Do any of you out there have any experience with red tide? I wonder if the fish will migrate in with the cooler water or will this year just have to be written off as a loss?

I sure do hope it doesn't move inshore. It would be a real shame to loose all those 14" trout before they get a chance to grow up. I would appreciate it if you locals would keep us posted on the progress of this red tide outbreak. With the cooler weather maybe it will go away.

Thanks Wevans

I had you in mind when I made this post. Sure does look bad out around 24. I've been studying the bottom around there and a little south east all summer just waiting for fall. Now I don't know if there is any sense in even trying. Of course I will come anyway. At least I can go trout and red fishing.

There's not enough Red Tide to even put a dent in the Grunts ! If it clears up, maybe 2 weeks or so, i'll have a look see to see whats swimming and let you know !

There ain't no good bottom, or fish out there. :o

I have no experience with red tide. I don't know how long it will take to clear out, or what the after affects will be. But, I'll be out there to find out. The only way to know is to go.
What was I supposed to do today?
