red tide
We were offshore this weekend out of Econfina fishing and diving. No sign of red tide. No dead fish floating and none on the bottom. Hopefully it is over. Frank will be posting posting a more detailed report later.
You just can't fix stupid.
I fished out of St. Marks Sat. and Sunday and caught lots of grouper in 30' to 45' on stretch 30's. Mostly shorts but did box some fish and lost some really good ones. I guess I'm going to have to use heavier tackle. Using 65# power pro and 80# leader and had several fish break me off or rock me up. Lost 6 stretches to big fish and had several good ones come unbuttoned at the boat. Hope the grouper fishing continues to improve.
I thought the red tide might be the end of the fall grouper fishing but there are plenty out there. Two weekends ago I we from St. Marks to buoy 24 and saw dead fish the whole way. This weedend did not see any dead fish and the bait schools were back with bonita and spanish just tearing them up. Looks like the fishing has recovered well. Hope the red tide goes away totally soon.
