Went fishing with Birddog on the 16th, he can tell them lies :o   ...

I drew Gennaro Scibelli for a partner in the NFGFC draw tournament. After fishing with Birddog Friday, I was sure I was going to catch a fish, cause it took a trolling motor to catch the good ones we caught Friday....

I was staying solo at Casa Tincan...I guess Tincan didn't pay the electricity bill and it was cut off at 2:30 in the morning...I fumbled around putting contacts in buy Flashlight at 4:00 in the morning, that was a feat in it's self....

Meet the crew at Jerry's Bait and Tackle, exchanged monies, lures, tactics and various others things before we headed out for a day of sweating and fishing...

Launched at the Lighthouse pool....motor said I need to use it more, cause it wouldn't crank, finally she fired and me and Gennaro headed to spot near the mouth of the river where me and Birddog caught a few yesterday....Managed to hook and lose a good trout and a smaller one...The thrill from this spot was the lassoed sea gull...How don't know, but I did lasso a seagull....I reeled him in near the boat and figured the jig and line would slide off once I cut...Well, I cut it and it flew off with a jig hanging three foot below it....Forgot to mention he had called his forty other buddies in on the action....Boy, you should of seen his buddies chasing his arse across that flat with the jig dangling three foot below him...That was some funny sheet...

We moved on to a spot that Tincan had told me about and the ladyfish and a large spanish was there...

Then my phone rings and it's 411 (BigT), stating that he had a limit already and I needed to come and observe the action...Coincidentally this was my next place visit on my list, so we head over...

Shallow water and lots of floating grass, dang shrimpers   ....Almost immediately started catching school trout on weedless jerk baits...Ended up fishing this area the rest of the tournament...Caught 20-30 trout from 20.5" to 12"

The one that got away was the ones that keep me coming back....Threw to a clump of rock grass, pulled the lure to 6 foot of the boat next to the grass and this brown, silver and black speckled submarine rises up behind the lure....This is all within 6 foot of the boat....She eats the bait, I set the hook....Fish on...........Fish off :smt010 ....I'll take them any day, just seeing them is joy enough for me....

Caught the fish on weedless jerk baits, Cajun Thunders and topwater....Great weekend on the water, can't wait to do it again...

Chalk,
Good reports, Friday and Saturday. I think I was at your six at Gray Mare. Wanted to fish the area for a couple minutes before I interrupted yours. Looked up and you were headed to chase reds. We'll catch up on a different trip.

Ran into Sundown and another member from the forum (can't find him on the memberlist, though). Both from Albany.

I don't think JT would have let you count the seagull, anyway.
What was I supposed to do today?

It was good to see Chalk and his new boat on the water. He should get some bonus points for commitment, most miles driven, and fewest hours of sleep prior to a tournament :D And he still caught fish

As a follow-up to his gull episode, I had more than one diving on my topwater offering on Saturday. They seem to be more interested in anything like that than I've ever seen before. I can see it now....Chalk's gull land's on the water for a rest..... lady fish hit's the jig.... RODEO!
