Wakulla River 10/9

Post by Charles »

Hit the river again, this time with the wife and kids, so didn't stay as long as usual, or go as far up above Lower Bridge. Still, kept these three for the pan.

Conditions were nice. Started out cool and overcast, changing to cloudless and sunny with a variable, intermittent breeze later in the morning. The tide was falling all morning. Good current flowing down river, but lots of sediment in the water.

Saw some of the mullet fishermen that are always sitting just above the shallow stretch above Lower Bridge catch some pretty nice fish. May have to go just to try that, one of these days.

Saw that the mullet in the river are beginning to gather into larger schools. I think the fall pattern began to start about a week/week-and-a-half ago.

Hit the river last Tuesday with my Mom, younger brother and nephew. We kept 10 between the four of us, released many and not all short.

As when I was fishing this river 20 yrs. ago and Dad was fishing it with Grandpa 40 yrs. before that. These fish are still suckers for a Snagless Sally with pork trailer. :D

<Note to self: Need to take Dad on this river next time he comes over.>

Nice catch, Charles. That river can be a blast when it's right.
What was I supposed to do today?
