St Marks Sunday 10/9

Post by sundown »

Left Shields this morning right at 7.. Had a nice cool ride down the river and headed out toward deeper water...Cloudy and overcast till mid morning with light wind...Seas not overly rough...

Put out two trolling rigs and caught first gag about 9:30...24" fish...Caught four more between then and 12 with largest measuring 33". Also had something on a rock pile take a stretch away from me...Broke 60 lb leader at the swivel...

Around middle of the day, the water quitened down and got pretty slick...Strikes all but stopped...Did pick up one more legal fish between then and four when we headed to the hill....Had one short...rest were between 24 and 33 inches..

We lost two more stretches to cutoffs....Have no idea what they were..suspected mackeral....

All in all it was a very good one day trip !

From about 22 ft on out over good bottom seems to be the ticket for us..If you mark fish over good structure don't hesitate to make two or three passes over it ...
