motor flushing
I now have a motor with the screw-in water hose attachment up top. Just wondering: Is that the best way to flush after saltwater? Or are the earmuffs at the bottom (with the motor running) still the way to go? Seems to me that bottom-up is the way saltwater comes in, so fresh water for a rinse should take the same path.
The Suzuki manual says the earmuff method is preferrred -- but then why do they give you another option?
Just wondering.

FLUSHING MOTOR
BOTH OF THOSE METHODS ARE BETTER THAN NONE. BETTER STILL IS TO BACK DOWN IN A FRESH WATER POND, RIVER ETC. AND RUN THE GAS OUT OF THE CARB. THIS WILL NOT ONLY WASH OUT THE ENGINE BUT DO A GOOD JOB OF WASHING OFF THE TRAILER. WE LAUNCH AT THE ST. MARKS LIGHTHOUSE POOL, WHEN WE COME OUT WE COME BACK UP THE ROAD TO THE FRESH WATER PONDS ON THE LEFT, THERE IS A CONCRETE RAMP TO BACK DOWN, RUN THE GAS OUT OF THE CARB. THEN HEAD BACK TO THE HOUSE.

I bet if you read the manual on that motor Don, they say DO NOT run the motor using the screw on attachment
As for mine, I haven't flushed my motor in three years and use it primarily in the salt "course it only stays out of the water 5 or 6 days at a time also"

I bought my yammy new in Feb. The man I bought mine from has been in the biz for years, I have confidence in what he says, he told me one was as good as the other, but the screw on connector was to be used with the motor off. It is a convience item for people that store boats in a boat house where access to the foot is not easily accessable.
