Left the marina at about 8:00, tide was high, water temp. 79 deg., wind North 5-10. Air temp maybe 75 to start 85 at mid day. Seas 2-3' or so, with swells. The swells were not a problem, although they were breaking on Dog Island Reef.
Hit four spots in 45', with many shorts and only one legal gag. Two of my very best areas still are dead as can be, I think the red tide got them. Went inshore to Dog Island Reef, and caught many big ladyfish and large spanish on a nylure. Put 6 spanish in the boat, all released.
Tide very low coming in to Lanark, and saw many dead fish floating out on the outgoing tide. Lot fairly full at Lanark, but Mike said the forecast drove people away. Game and Fish boys were putting ice on 800 lbs of seized mullet at the marina. Somebody needs to have a fish fry - hope they don't go to waste.

EJ.....same thing happened to me the other day when I went out of Lanark. Went to 2 spots in 45 ft. that ALWAYS produce fish and we didn't get much of anything. Only a few bites with no grouper and 1 rock bass. I'm used to pulling 40-50 rock bass off these spots with no problem. Even the grouper bite has been good there for most of the year. This past Thursday....nothing. I'm gonna side with you that it is the red tide. We did manage a 3-man limit of gags in 75 ft. and Mike told me to tell everybody so they would come down and give him some business 
Yeah, I heard that 70' was the magic depth, but I was scared to venture that far off by myself in my boat. Although it wasn't "rough" offshore on Saturday, it also wasn't slick. Mike could use some business. He had some, but not like he normally does. I wonder whether some of those guys are going to be able to stay in business.
