Return to Econfina 11-5

Post by Welby »

After being away from fishing due to wrist surgery since June, I was itching to get to the coast. Put the boat in the water about 1 PM Saturday with my girlfriend and a fishing buddy along for the ride. Not much water in the mouth of the river but we made it out. Headed west toward Aucilla. Stopped in about 4-1/2' of water and started drifting toward Aucilla. After 2-1/2 hours drifting we had a limit of trout and a 22" Blue that tried to eat a nice trout that I was bringing to the boat. I never hooked the Blue but he held on long enough that Tiffany was able to net the trout along with the Blue. We then headed in to a creek and caught a 22" Red. It was a great return to the flats. Most of the trout were caught on CT w/ jig & grib. Seemed to get better sized trout as we drifted closer in..

That's a mess of fish and that will fill a small freezer really quick....
I noticed the bluefish seem to be getting very aggressive this time of year.

What color(s) & jigs were you using?

Good report Image
