Okay, I am addicted.
The kids had such a good time Wednesday they said they would gladly go with me again on Friday. I guess I failed to fully explain how early we were going to leave. " I am too tired" "sleepy", etc.
So I went solo. 3rd one in at the fort. It was pretty calm so I went out south of SM Reef, seas a 1' chop, wind from the N temp 59. I bottom dropped and trolled for about 2 hours. Nothing, nada, zip. I reaffirmed that I stink at trolling. Seas picked up to about a 2' chop, so time to head in.
I tried the E. River bars and points furhter north on the E. River. Was using live and dead shrimp, chicken and RB grubs, no takers. Tide was moving out, but very slowly.
Headed up to a faithful spot from earlier, couple of short reds and short trout. Headed back down river and found two holes on the W. side that produced. Winds had died, water temp 63, no seeums everywhere. Redfish, redfish, redfish, redfish, trout. That is pretty much the way it went in both those spots for the next two hours. All the reds were 17- 17.5" The trout were from 17.5 to 19.5" Caught on gold spoon(reds), shrimp under a CT or on the bottom on a jighead were getting both trout and red. Strange - both holes were about 9' deep and 20' across. If you did not cast to that exact spot, you caught nothing. I later drifted over said holes and did not see anything unusual on the bottom. Looked like mud.
Fun day, whole lotta people out there. Saw Tallarob again.

You should make note of the tide when you find em like that
often times at this time of year, they will move with the tide and only bite on certain tides
