Spring Creek 11/26

Must be winter again because I had a real nice trip. I donâ€™t know if I wore the trout out but they darn sure wore me out. 60 plus fish with only a few less than 15 and 8-10 over 20 â€“the biggest was a 23. No Redfish. The trout were stacked up around the mouth of the creek. I hadnâ€™t fished in months so it was great to have such a nice trip. I guess I was in too big of a hurry to get on the water because I forgot leader & extra jigs. I did have leader set up already on my 2 rods and I was able to get by with that. My second flub was the knot untieing on my makeshift stringer and losing the 4-19â€

That is probably more big trout than anyone has caught in a while. Nice job.

Littoral-

I dont want do discount your triumph, but I was in Creek 11/26 an was unable to get a bite. I fished from marker22 nothrward into the big Spring behind the Spears property. We should have at least bumped into each other once or twice. I don't douboubt you did well, but I suspect you were there in a diffeernt day, or a completely different location.

I ran to marker 22 and dropped different baits into that 20'+ hole around the marker, and could not even catch a catfish. (Made a run to oyster bay and visited with a friend aross the canal from Coptain Charlie) and then ran up-river and tried some of the creek mouths...... not even a catfish.... no bites...no fish... with the exception of a few tincy-trincy sheep head...
What gives?

Hey MJ, OK, I'll fess up to being a little grey about where I really was. Sometimes you have to. I've had a lot of luck in recent winters in a few spots near Spring Creek but I've never exactly spelled out where. When it's in general territory I'll say so but the winter spots are too specific to give up. I wasn't in Spring Creek proper but I was close. I said Spring Creek because it's the nearest ramp & named creek to where I put my kayak in. The site was a real orienteering project to find. I cover some territory through the woods before I actually put in. I did find the fish in 4-5 feet of water out in front of the creek(s). I read your report & I expected you would wonder about mine.

I figured with soo many different areas, the fish are bound to school in specific locations. Let's keep those spots under our hats. You also have the extreme advantage of stealth in a yak that I don't have. all I can do is set up a drift in an area where I marked fish and hope they are still there once i drift into them.

Regardless, spring creek is a wondrous area full of geological features. When I do get down there, even if I don't catch fish I love to explore the springs, creeks, find all the rocks and oyster bars. I am glad you did well.
