Spring Creek 12/1

Post by Littoral »

Took off work to fish. :D
I took a friend kayaking who knows very little about fishing. Altruistic efforts and fishing don’t always mix but this time it worked out. He caught a limit of trout & had a great time. I caught a beautiful 26 that dwarfed the other fish on the stringer. 52 & 38 series MirroLures were the ticket with many strikes occurring when the lure was suspended. The fish were real finicky. They were either biting or not at something like 1/2 hour intervals. I’m sure the big AM tide had a lot to do with it. The trip went really well but I still don’t know if I’ve figured out how to fish a MirroLure. It seems like a moving target as to the best way to fish them. Sometimes this works & sometimes it’s something else. They require (allow) you to impart the action & you have to really concentrate on technique. Braided line helps a lot. Of course, then nothing works.
I have photos on a disposable that I have to get developed.

Back to report, after further review, the "26" was closer to a 25. :smt009
I didn't clean the fish until the next morning & I put a yardstick on it instead of the more wishful measure on top of the cooler. The scientist in me forced me to confess. I am a fisherman so I'll lie about some things but really big trout are few and I have to post the right numbers on them.
