Today's plan was for Chalk and I to go fish "The Secret Hole". Chalk wouldn't tell me where this hole is, nor would he let me turn my GPS on. He also made me wear a blind fold from the landing to the hole, and back on the return trip. All of this would have been fine, but we were in my boat, and I was driving. I decided that if he didn't want me to know where this place is that bad, and was willing to ride with me, what the heck, lets go.
When we arrived at the hole, I was allowed to remove my blind fold, and, much to my surprise, I had navigated through what looked like a moon scape. The tide was low to say the least. We started fishing this moon scape, and working our way into a creek. It wasn't long before the first fish was boated. A nice keeper trout. We kept moving around and would catch 2 or 3 fish per spot. We boated 10 keeper trout in the first hour. We fished our way up the creek on the rising tide, and stayed up there through the high. When the water turned, we headed back out the creek. We finally found a few reds at the mouth of the creek.
We had a fairly decent day. We caught something over 30 trout, all keepers, most in the 18" range, with a couple hitting 20". I boated 1 24" red. Chalk had another decent red on, but did a quick release before he got the fish to the boat, and we caught 5 or 6 pup reds.
Chalk, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip today. I just wish I knew where we went so I could give a complete report.
