Old Dog Question??

Post by noleflyfisher »

OD, have you fished the ICW at St. Joe this year? I haven't heard anything yet but I suspect the late season redtide may have slowed things down. :-?

I haven't fished it this year but I have have friends that have done well, especially on the bay end of the canal. I understand there is some dredging going on at the "T" and things might be a bit messed up on that end. Steve Nowlin and two friends got 6 limits in the canal Thursday of last week so the fish were there, now where they'll be after all this rain is another story.

I'll be fishing it next week, and the week after with my base at Apalachicola.

The landing under the bridge can be a bit tricky with the tide running full spate so we usually launch at the public ramp in PSJ, or at White City. I fished it today for a little while running there from Sandy Creek. It's about a 40 min ride from Sandy at cruising speed in my boat. Sandy was slow so thought I'd do better in the canal. We caught a few trout, saw some caught, but the bloom was off by the time we got there. I had some friends that fished it this morning, (hence the long run), they caught over 40 trout and most were keepers.
