Econfina 12/23

Post by catchin1 »

Left the house around 7am, heavy frost ,all the way down ice in the ditches. Get to JR's no shrimp. He's says fish in the rivers. Get to Econfina store, same story. On the water around 8:30 water already kinda low, decide to stay in the river and try. Few boats around notmuch happening, couple of shorts. Do this till about 12:30. Can't stand it anymore (don't really like fishin the river). We got some trolling rods on board so we head out to about 20' to drag some plugs. Really calm. First time I've been that far out of Econ, suprised to see crab traps 12miles out. Dolphins by dozens. We drag plugs for bout 1 1/2 hours, nothing. Hoped to find some rock piles, not today. Its 3:30 we got nothin in the box. Point the boat back in head for a couple fo creeks that I wanted to try to get to all day. 30 mins. later pull in the first creek, fish all around nothing. :smt012 . Its 4:30 now panic has set in, looking at a skunk. Decide to try and make it to next creek, still not too much water have idle along. Pull up in next creek, pull up to my spot. cast out, there he is, first keeper trout of the day 16". Its getting late now 5:00 we know the sun is gonna fall fast . Fish for 30more mins putting a total of 6keepers in the box, 2 of which are 20". Its 5:30 now are we gotta jet to get in by dark. Get to the ramp right at dusk, we the last ones in. Long tuff day of fishin for sure, but at least we salvaged it a little with a few fish at the end. Just got in showered, eat, posted this and now my arse is dragging. Hope you guys have better luck tommorow.
