I picked up a homeless guy named Tincan at the White City ramp around 0800 this morning...We made our way down to where some other boats where...I had never been here and Tincan had only been here a time or two before...We drift for along time, not getting a bite...we rode down to the bridge and do a U turn...Really foggy and the wind was picking up....We head back down the canal ...Around 1200 or so...the sun peaks out a little and we start picking up a few trout here and there...Old Dog showed up and gave us the 411, thanks for the info OD....
We fished til 3:30..probably caught/hooked/hooked and released without touching and landed 20 or so trout...Put five in the box...Called it a good day
Nothing broke, caught some fish and shared some good fellowship on the water...What a way to start the year out...Thanks for tagging along TC...

What a way to start the new year. We also found out there is almost no such thing as boating etiquette any more. Most boats slowed down to a fast plow when passing by. They were throwing enough wake for us to take a couple over the bow.
We caught a few fish, picked at each other, caught a few more fish, fussed at each other, caught a few more fish, hard timed each other.......
Enjoyed it, as usual, partner.
BTW, did you clean that truck up when you got home?

My friend Pig came down from Chattanooga last Wednesday and we took our wives down to Apalachicola for a few days and on the way home Pig and I decided to stop off at White City and fish the Gulf County Canal. My wife and I had fished the canal earlier in the week and we did well and I was hoping some fish were still there.
It was good to run into you Chalk, and you Tin Can, and I'm glad you guys caught a few fish. We wound up with 8 trout with 4 keepers, (plus a black drum), by the time we left, around 2:00.
I'm afraid I was probably one of those throwing a little wake as I came down the canal. I backed off some but apparently not quite enough and got fussed at by a guy. I usually watch that but slipped up today.
The fishing at Apalachicola was so/so. We caught a good many trout, (no reds), but the fish were scattered and we had real low tides early in the day. Our best bites came later in the afternoons. Cat Point was a good area for us. It was good being with friends and that was the main thing.

Nice report. I appreciate the update. I was almost there yesterday. I was in St Joe & my father in law asked me if I wanted to go but I didn’t have any of my gear with me (I was on a quick trip over & back). I’ve done the ICW a few times & it’s not the most picturesque spot but if you’re catching fish then it doesn’t matter.

Most of the people we talked to yesterday were employing the sit and wait method. They picked a spot, anchored up, put a shrimp on the bottom, and waited for the fish to come by. I think Chalk and I enjoy playing with our artificials too much to sit and wait them out. I gotta be flingin and bringin.

Yeah, I went fishing once but I thought it was boring. I guess I just don't have the patience.
Forgot to mention that I asked TC if he had a black magic marker to make a lure black to fish the muddy water...He said, "No, but he could rub it between his butt cheeks to make it black."
