Oklocknee State Park

Post by Fisherman989 »

Went down to Weaven's territory yesterday in spite of the warm weather. Gonna try the lower stertch of the Oklocknee for whatever is biting. Took live shiners. Right close to the park we caught 4 stripers and 3 bass....all too short. Twas to be the story of the day. Went on up and down the river...over to the SopChoppy..up Buckhorn. Finally found the only keepers of the day...2 bass, one about 3 lbs and one @ 1 1/2 lbs. Caught 3 more stripers, all too short. I've fished the park for nigh on 30 years....first stripers I've ever caught..but they were too short. There's a good crop coming on. Thought we might catch some speckled trout down close to where the two rivers run together...but nothing there.
Never did see the mayor :)

Glad ya caught a few, 989. But ya need to be careful down there. If Mayor Wevans ever finds out who ya are, and knows you're messin with his fish, he gets ugly. He won't say anything. He'll just hide and wait. When ya pass by, he'll shoot a hole in your boat. I've had to patch about 15 holes, so far. Fortunately, he isn't a very good shot, and hasn't hit me, yet.

Fourtunate for you that I AM a good shot John :smt021

That's not a bad day for the current conditions F989  with the temps going up and down so much, it's hard to pattern the fish right now :smt010 there does seem to be a very good increase in the Stripers this year  but I've also noticed a corresponding decrease in the Largemouth

Shots Fired

Post by Fisherman989 »

Someone did shoot at Dixie Reb and me several years ago while we were going down Fenholloway. I heard the gun fire and immediately zzziiing went the bullet across my boat. Scared the living ---- out of me.
Thats when we were going out of Fenholloway. It worked. Haven't been back in years. Still is a good place to fish... all those oysterbars out in front..but we put in at Econfina now and motor down.
The poluted river helped me make up my mind too.
I've seen the mayor on the Oklocknee before. He tolerates me cause I don't thin em out too much. :-?
