Fishing Kit

Post by Sir reel »

My Son has reached his duty station (Navy) in Kuwait. I received a call from him last week and while we were chatting, I mentioned that I had intended to send my small telescoping rod and light spinning reel with him before he left. He admitted that it would be nice and he had avoided taking any of his equipment because of obvious travel/packing issues. I said do you want me to send you something to fish with and he said YES (that's my boy! :-D ). I've been doing some research on the Internet, ebay, and such and I've seen some Shakespeare kits and a few from Canada on ebay but other than that not much else. I like the idea of being able to have everything included in a hard case but most of those include some pretty wimpy tackle... (sort of like our CCA tournament :D )

Before I make a decision, I wanted to put it out for this group in case somebody knows of or finds a better solution. Looking for a Medium to Medium/Light spinning outfit, either a telescoping or multi section rod with a case and some tackle or room for some. Thanks.

Thanks Don. I had run across those earlier and they do look good.

Here's the products from Shakespeare that I've been looking at.. don't know if anyone carries them here. Might have to order them and I've seen a couple on ebay.

This one has some tackle with it. Rod(6'-0") medium action

This one just has the rod(6'-6") medium action /reel(6lb line) but does come in a tackle box that I could place the terminal tackle in myself (picture shows spincast but does come in a spinning combo as well)
Image ...... EDIT ..... West Marine can order this one for $27.99

Haven't been able to dig up any prices yet but probably are considerably cheaper than the Daiwa Executive Travel Pack - Hard Case
Code: DAIWA_ETPSF200-CFWN but the quality probably is less as well.

Would you believe I saw some of these at JCPenny?!

They are not online but in the store in their assorted cheap junk section.
