Need Battery for EPIRB

Post by Sir reel »

I have a friend who sold his offshore boat last year. He included most all of the equipment with the boat but held on to the 406 Cat II EPIRB. It now belongs to me. (no manual) Image
The unit needs a new battery and a replacement antenna but otherwise is in like new condition. I have found a source through the internet for both. The battery is $200 and the antenna $115. http://www.jennysgiftsetc.com/bbme/406epirb.html
The unit has valid NOAA registration through mid 2007. Does anyone have experience with finding a source and replacement of batteries for an EPRIB (especially if the price is better :D ). I don't know if I'm going to put the unit back into service or put it out on ebay or what. My activities don't really fall into the category that I would consider condusive to having an EPIRB (at least one like this) but It would never hurt I guess. I have the mounting bracket as well. If anyone has some suggestions on a good source for a battery and antenna or would be interested in making me an offer, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.
