Preferred areas/launch sites for pursuing Grouper & Snap

Post by Chipola »

Already thinking about opening of snapper season and April/May offshore fishing. What would be the preferred launch sites for going offshore come April/May? Out of Destin, Panama City, Mexico Beach, Apalach, Carrabelle or St. Marks?

Also doesn't the density of boats out of Destin or Panama - and the head boats - make their offshore waters less inviting?

When I talk of going offshore - I'm thinking within the range of most CC's in the 18-23-foot class.

Your best bet for both grouper and snapper is going to be Carrabelle or Apalach. St. Marks is good for grouper, but snapper is a LONNNNG run. Snapper should be good from 70 feet out. Grouper 40 feet out.

Thanks Tom, what type of structure can I expect out of Carrabelle in 70 feet of water, natural rock/ledges or artificial reefs?
